Q : What is an HVAC system?
A : When it comes to the air conditioning industry, you will find HVAC term is very often used instead of AC (Air Conditioning). HVAC means Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning. The HVAC system’s main purpose is to provide heating and cooling to commercial buildings and big homes. Whenever you visit any malls, hotels, showrooms, etc., and the surrounding comfort you feel is because of the HVAC system.
Q : What is the difference between HVAC & AC system?
A : Well, we often face this question. Let us explain, Air Conditioning is the last system of HVAC. AC is usually used in homes and offices especially when you want to cool your room. The common AC machines are Window and Split AC. Whereas, in HVAC you want cooling as well as heating depending upon the local weather condition. In the summer season, you want cooling and in the winter season, you want heating. In simple words, AC is for individuals, and HVAC is used for commercial purposes.
Q : Types of HVAC systems?
A : There are two types of commonly used HVAC systems in the Air Conditioning Industry.
- Chiller Plant systems.
- VRF/ VRF systems.
Which HVAC system to be used in a project is decided by the engineering design, load, usage of the building, geographical conditions, etc. The most common use HVAC system for commercial buildings and big homes is VRF/ VRF.
Q : What is the difference between VRF and VRV?
A : Well, people often confused when they hear these two words VRF & VRV. So what’s really the difference between these two? Let’s put in layman’s words, both are a similar thing! Where VRF means “Variable Refrigerant Flow” and VRV means “Variable Refrigerant Volume”.
Daikin, one of the industry leaders in HVAC technology and equipment has copyrighted the term VRV. The other manufacturers use the word VRF, which has the same basic technology used in VRV.
Q : Why VRF technology is popular?
A : Let’s put it in simple words VRF systems can perform at a high capacity with large-scale ductless systems. Based on the project design VRF system usage varies based on application. Generally, VRF technology operates for multiple indoor units (High wall or Cassette) or areas to function in the same system. A VRF system provides simultaneous heating and cooling and it can be a heat recovery system or heat pump system. Customization of VRF products helps any project to meet the specific demands of a client.

VRF provides both cooling and heating.
In different areas or rooms within a building, the VRF system can provide heating in winter season and cooling in summer season. Occupants have the option to the temperature setting as per their need.
VRF runs at a very low ambient noise.
VRF system has the advantage of low ambient noise, and its quiet operation helps in reducing noise inside and outside of a building.

The weight of ducted equipment is more than VRF equipment’s; hence installation of VRF reduces the physical effort and saves time and money.
